Program Description

Kansas Housing establishes installation standards of manufactured housing. The team oversees manufactured home installer licenses including examination, certification, and revocation. KHRC can also assist in resolving disputes between the owners and installers of manufactured homes.

Audience Served

Kansans who purchase a manufactured home are protected by ensuring the installer is licensed and uses the standards developed by KHRC.

How To Apply

Installer candidates must complete an installation training course and examination certified by KHRC. Both Installer and Apprentice Installer candidates should submit their application and fee ($300 for installers, $75 for apprentice) by mail to:

Kansans requesting dispute resolution:

If a problem arises with a manufactured home, the first contact should be the retailer. Most problems can be eliminated quickly. If the retailer cannot help, the second contact should be the manufacturer. Manufacturers, for the most part, are quick to respond to problems.

It is important to put a report of a defect in writing so that there will be proof of date of delivery. Also, make a copy to keep with your records. After reporting an alleged defect, the reporting party or homeowner is encouraged to allow time for a satisfactory resolution of the reported defect before initiating the Manufactured Home Dispute Resolution Program.

If a satisfactory resolution of the reported defect is not obtained, the purchaser must complete the Dispute Resolution form inside the Dispute Resolution Packet. A check or money order for $100.00 made payable to “KHRC” is required. The Dispute Resolution form and the check must be mailed to:
